KABUL (Pajhwok): Two drug traffickers carrying more than 800 kilograms of opium have been arrested by police in central Bamyan province, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday.
Lt. Gen. Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, deputy counter-narcotics head at the MoI, today a press conference here that the drug traffickers were en-route to Kabul from Sighan district of Bamyan when they were detained by police.
The two had skillfully placed the 800kg of opium in a vehicle and wanted to shift the drugs to southe Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
Ahmadi identified the two as Mohammad Agha, hailing from Kandahar, and Abdulahad, a resident of weste Ghor province.
Ahamdi called the third quarter of the solar year 1395 as a drug trafficking season in the country.
“We are making efforts to detect drug trafficking gangs and mafia especially those active in Helmand and Kandahar and arrest them.”
